Shilo National Military Park Gallery
The battle at Shilo during the Civil War where more than 10,000 soldiers perished, a very somber place to visit
Stopping to tour and photograph the Shilo National Military Park was a very moving moment in time for me. The battle was not long yet over 10,000 soldiers perished. As you tour the park, you will see many monuments erected from many states from the north and south. A touching moment for me was when I looked up the hill across the meticulously maintained graveyard in the middle was Old Glory waving proudly.

War Department General Order No.80.
Sadly, even in 1875, there was a problem with the desecration of the graves at Shilo National Military Park in Tennesse resulting in general order No.80 that limits when you can visit. Even today this order still is in place.
