The battle at Shilo during the Civil War where more than 10,000 soldiers perished, a very somber place to visit
Stopping to tour and photograph the Shilo National Military Park was a very moving moment in time for me. The battle was not long yet over 10,000 soldiers perished. As you tour the park, you will see many monuments erected from many states from the north and south. A touching moment for me was when I looked up the hill across the meticulously maintained graveyard in the middle was Old Glory waving proudly.

It is a rather sobering experience to drive and walk through the Shilo National Military Park.
All the monuments at Shiloh have descriptions so you know what they are and the history.
To think, even though this civil War battle was not that long over 10,000 perished. This is what they call the "Lost Cause Memorial".
